Pool business for sale

Pool service businesses for sale — and what you're really buying.

A pool service business for sale is more than a list of stops. Depending on how it's structured, it can include recurring service accounts, routes, vehicles, equipment, repair work in progress and the brand customers know. POOLIO Exchange lists business-asset sales alongside routes and accounts, so buyers can compare them side by side.

  • Business listings are asset sales: accounts, routes and equipment
  • Live listings only — none are invented
  • Same deal room, agreements and handoff as route sales
  • Not a business broker; you choose your own advisers

There are no public business listings at this moment. POOLIO only shows real listings, so this list is empty until an owner publishes one. In the meantime, route and account listings are on the pool routes for sale page.

Business vs route

Pool business sale vs pool route sale

On POOLIO Exchange, business listings are structured as asset sales at launch. That means the buyer acquires specific listed assets — not the seller's company entity, debts or tax history. Stock or entity sales are outside what the marketplace handles today.

Pool cleaning businesses

Pool cleaning businesses for sale: what's typical

Most pool cleaning businesses that come up for sale are owner-operated: one to three trucks, mostly residential weekly service, and some repair work. The recurring weekly service is usually the core of the value because it repeats. Repair and green-to-clean work is real income but varies year to year, so buyers tend to weigh it differently.

Larger pool service companies add commercial accounts, multiple techs and more equipment. Their value depends heavily on whether the operation runs without the owner — documented routes, recorded pricing and service history a buyer can verify.

Checking a business

What to check before buying a pool service business

  • Recurring service revenue separated from repair and one-off income
  • Customer tenure, recent cancellations and concentration in a few large accounts
  • Vehicle and equipment list, condition and ownership (owned, leased or financed)
  • Which liabilities, contracts and leases stay with the seller
  • Local licensing or contractor requirements that apply to you as the new operator
  • The owner's role today, and what happens to customer relationships when they leave
  • Seller transition support, written into the agreement

Valuation

How a pool service business is valued

Recurring revenue and how long customers stay are usually the base. A business that runs from documented systems is generally worth more than one that runs from the owner's memory, because less of the value leaves when the owner does. Equipment and vehicles are usually valued on their own condition rather than as a multiple.

Financing

Paying for a pool business acquisition

Buyers usually combine their own cash, seller terms negotiated in the agreement, and outside lending. POOLIO Capital — business funding from third-party lending partners, including route acquisitions — is coming soon. Applications are not open yet, and POOLIO is not a lender.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where can I find a pool service business for sale?

Business-asset listings appear on this page and in the POOLIO Exchange marketplace when an owner publishes one. Only real listings are shown.

Is a pool business sale on POOLIO an asset sale or a stock sale?

Business listings on POOLIO Exchange are asset sales at launch: the buyer acquires listed accounts, routes and equipment, not the seller's company entity.

How is buying a pool cleaning business different from buying a route?

A route sale transfers service agreements and schedule. A business sale can also include vehicles, equipment, brand assets and repair revenue, so due diligence is broader and professional advice matters more.

Is POOLIO a business broker?

POOLIO is a technology marketplace, not a business broker, agent, lender or escrow company. Buyers and sellers negotiate their own deal and choose their own attorney, accountant or other advisers.

Can POOLIO finance my purchase?

Not today. POOLIO Capital is coming soon and would offer funding from third-party lending partners, subject to their approval. POOLIO is not a lender.

POOLIO Exchange in brief

POOLIO Exchange is a pool route marketplace where pool-service owners buy and sell single pool accounts, account bundles, full pool routes and pool service business assets. Public listings show only privacy-safe operating data; customer identities stay private until a deal is agreed.

How it works

  1. Seller lists accounts, a route or a business with an asking price they set.
  2. Buyers browse pool routes for sale free, with no login required.
  3. An eligible buyer makes an offer; offers and counters stay in one deal room.
  4. Both sides sign structured agreements covering price, transferred revenue and handoff.
  5. Closing follows a structured workflow designed for licensed third-party escrow handling.
  6. POOLIO Flow hands the operating data to the buyer.

Pricing. List for free. Pay only when it sells. Success Fee: one month of the recurring monthly service revenue being transferred. No Exchange subscription fee, and nothing owed unless your transaction closes.

Not a broker. POOLIO is a technology marketplace, not a broker, agent, escrow company or lender. Buyers and sellers make their own deal and decide what professional help they need.

Route and business sales. Pool route sales on POOLIO Exchange cover single accounts, account bundles and full routes. The seller sets the asking price; buyers browse free and make offers; both sides sign structured agreements; and customer identities stay private until a deal is agreed. A pool service business sale on POOLIO Exchange is an asset sale — customer accounts, routes and, where listed, equipment — rather than a sale of the company entity. Buyers should use their own attorney and accountant for business purchases.

Trading accounts. POOLIO Trade lets two pool companies swap accounts to tighten their routes: privacy-safe areas, preset messages, versioned proposals, signed agreements and a per-trade legal clearance before any account moves. Each company pays a flat POOLIO Trade Fee per completed trade.

Valuation and due diligence. Pool routes are usually priced as a multiple of verified recurring monthly service revenue, adjusted for retention, density, pricing health, cost to serve and record quality. There is no universal multiple; POOLIO's free calculator gives an estimated range, not an appraisal. Pool route due diligence verifies, account by account, billed versus paid revenue, customer tenure and cancellations, current pricing, stop locations and drive time, service history, equipment, open balances and the handoff plan.

Marketplace, not broker. A pool route broker represents a party and negotiates for a commission; a pool route marketplace is technology where sellers set their own price and deal with buyers directly. POOLIO Exchange is a marketplace and excludes broker-represented listings.

What transfers. POOLIO Flow is designed to transfer eligible operating data — customers, properties, bodies of water, equipment, service history, route and schedule placement, and service pricing. Payment credentials, autopay authorizations and the seller's accounting history do not transfer.
