Buying a pool service route
A pool route is recurring work: a set of customers on a schedule who pay for service. Buying one is buying a relationship and a rhythm, not an asset that runs itself. POOLIO Exchange lists routes and account groups and walks the transfer steps once a buyer and seller agree.
What you are actually buying
You are buying the ongoing service relationship with specific customers, in a specific area, at the prices they currently pay. What comes with it — equipment, chemicals, vehicles, a training period — is whatever the agreement says, so read it closely.
How to read a listing
Look at the account count, the service area, the monthly amount the route bills, and how the seller describes the work. Then look at the gaps: accounts that pay below the local norm, long drive distances, or equipment the seller flags as ageing.
Questions worth asking
How long has each account been a customer? When were prices last raised? Which accounts are the difficult ones? What is included in the current price? Why are you selling? A seller who answers plainly is telling you something useful.
Checking the numbers yourself
Treat any figure as something to verify, not something to accept. Ask how revenue is documented and compare it with the service schedule. A route's worth to you depends on your own drive time, capacity and pricing, which nobody else can calculate for you.
How the transfer works
After agreement, POOLIO runs the written agreement, funding, transfer and inspection steps in sequence, with a portion retained for a period after transfer. Customers are told about the change and decide for themselves whether to continue.
Running the route afterwards
The work starts the week after transfer: scheduling, service logs, billing and customer communication. POOLIO OS exists for exactly that, and it is a separate decision from the purchase itself.
Frequently asked questions
Does POOLIO guarantee customers will stay?
No. Customers choose for themselves, and no platform can promise retention.
Are listing prices verified?
Asking prices are set by sellers. Review the supporting detail yourself before agreeing to anything.
Do I need a POOLIO subscription to buy?
No. Reviewing listings on POOLIO Exchange does not require a paid POOLIO OS subscription.
